El InglésBordered by the beaches of San Agustín in the east and Maspalomas in the west, the 2.7km-long Playa del Inglés lays claim to being probably the most famous beach in Europe and also one of the most popular throughout the year.
Located in the largest tourist area of the island – together with Maspalomas and San Agustín it’s also the busiest tourist destination in the whole of Spain – this fun-and-sun beach offers all sorts of leisure and sports activities such as jet-ski, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing and many, many more. Basically, whatever you feel like doing... you'll find it here! Be aware that some areas of this beach are popular with nudists and gays. Should you get tired of the beach, there is an attractive pedestrian promenade, the Paseo Costa Canaria, lined with lush tropical flora and luxurious villas. It runs all along the beach linking the Playa de las Burras in the east to where the Maspalomas dunes begin. There is also the Paseo Marítimo, which – covered with awnings to protect you from the heat of the sun – is a 2-km (1.25-mile) stretch plastered with all kinds of restaurants, snack bars, fast food outlets, amusement arcades, Irish pubs and German beer houses, Internet cafés, tattoo parlours and shops selling all kind of stuff. Hotels close to the Playa del Inglés include the vibrant Hotel Neptuno, ideally positioned to take advantage of the beach and famous night-life. |
